I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology, Stanford University. During the 2018-19 academic year, I was an Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences, Stanford University.
My main research interests lie in the sociology of education and social inequality, with a focus on understanding the power and persistence of socioeconomic background in shaping life chances in late industrial societies.
I serve on the editorial boards of American Sociological Review, European Sociological Review, Research in Social Stratification and Mobility, and Social Forces. I recently served as a committee member for the NAS consensus study on the Neurobiological and Socio-Behavioral Science of Adolescent Development and Its Applications. The committee’s report can be accessed here.
